How You Should Act In College

How should you act when you are in college? I believe that you should act like and adult because that what you think and want everyone to think that you are. I have some students that are my class that act like they are in high school. That really bothers me because it’s like you are paying to go to college just to play around when you could of did that in the privacy of your own house or room. Also it bothers me because some of the students are on finical aid. To me it’s like if they are on finical aid then they really don’t care if they jack off the money which I don’t believe is fair because there are a lot of people out that that need the money and should have the money other than the people who are abusing the right to have finical aid. I believe that the people who acting up in class and or on finical aid should be dropped and have to pay for their own school for their punishment. I believe that we are in college now and shouldn’t be acting like we are in high school. I really don’t have this problem in all my classes it is just one of them. I believe that the teacher is too nice and they take that as they can run over her when they really can’t. My advice to them students is start to act your age not your shoe size.

Our Generation

I have chosen to write about to different matters but to me they tie in together really well. Also my two matters are a very huge thing that is happen right now a lot in the United States. My two matters are teen pregnancy and teen single mothers. Now days there are a lot of teens who are getting pregnant. I believe that teen pregnancy had grown since my mother was a child. I sometimes believe that teens what to become pregnant now because they believe that it is cute and they want attention. But they don’t really think about what they are doing. Like they are bringing in a human being into this world that they have to take care of not their mother or their father but themselves. I also believe that the television is also throwing out there that it’s ok to have kids and also music is doing the same. There is not one song or television show that you can watch that would not have sex in or the topic is sex. On teenage single parents have the girls who become pregnant don’t realize that their other have is going to stay with them. There are some guys who stand up and take responsibility but that number is really low. The mother is stuck taking care of a baby that she didn’t really make by herself. But if she would of listen to her mother or anyone who trying to help her she wouldn’t have gotten in that situation. There a show on MTV called 16 and pregnant I believe that this show has a good point and a not so good point to it. The good part that I think it has is that its shows teen how hard it is for someone to have a baby and it also shows the struggles that they have to. The part that I don’t like is that it somewhat is giving people the idea that it is ok to have babies at such a young age. I would just say think about what you are doing before you actually take that leap in your life thing about the outcome of it and if it’s the best for you. I honestly just wish that people would just wait until they are grown and ready to take care of a child.

My Growth in Writing

I believe that this class English 105 is really helping me become a great writer. I am seeing in myself that I am growing to like writing now that I have been in this class. I now know that writing isn’t all that bad once you get the hang of it. English 105 really helped me on how to begin my paper in a different way then I always do. It has also help me grab my audience better than what I was doing before. I also enjoyed some of the projects that we had to do in English 105. Like I loved the idea of the Wiki project, the senses workshop that we had and the blogs that we do every Wednesday. I didn’t even know that there was such a website that you can do things likes that on. English 105 also showed me new things like I said before like the blogs and the wiki page. English 105 isn’t only helping me but it is also enjoying. I thought that my papers were alright but now that I took this class I know that there great instead of just alright. I have so much confidence in my writing now. I can honestly say that I really did learn something from English 105. I also don’t think I was the class it was that I had an amazing teacher who taught me the class and really helped me become a better writer. I am so glad that I had the opportunity to take this class and have the teacher that I have now.

The Map Grant

The map grant is something a lot of students that are in college use to pay for their school and I can’t believe that the state of IL was about to take that away from those students who need those map grants. I am lad though that the state didn’t take them away. I believe they should keep the map grants because that really is helping the people who need those grants to pay for college to exceed in their life. Also help them become someone better than the person they are now. I also believe that if they would have took the grant away their would have been a lot of students that couldn’t afforded to go to college. So the state of IL would if had a lot of people roaming the streets looking for job and it would of made the crime rate go in higher than it is now. Also we wouldn’t even have a lot of important people around to help us like doctors, nurses, and so on. If the state of IL would have did that I also believe there would have been a lot of angry people around the state of IL. I am glad that we have that map grant for student to use to go college to further their education. I am also grateful for all the other grants and scholarship money that is out there to help us students go to college and further our education. If it wasn’t for those type of things I believe it would be very hard for us to attend college. So I am very happy they decided to keep the map grant.

Case study number 7

I really find it hard to write when I don’t have a good place to write at. I love to write in quite places so that I can think. I really don’t like it to be really quite but just quite to think. I like to listen to music sometime when I am write an paper or an essay. It really helps me sometime. Sometimes when I am listening to music I think something that I can use to put in my paper that I would had never thought to put in my paper. Also sometime music and distract me when I am writing and really depend on what the topic is. If it’s a topic that I really need to focus on the I don’t listen to music at all but if there and topic that really doesn’t take that much to think on that when I listen to music. The music that I try to listen to when I am writing a paper is classical music and R&b. I listen to R&B the most though. It just gets me and the write mood sometime. It also helps me think of an topic for a paper if I need one. When I write paper I will usually right them in my room so that I am comfortable and am not be bother by anyone while I am typing my paper or writing my paper. If I am not in my room I choose another room that I can become comfortable in. Being comfortable is very important to me when it comes to writing.

A PARTY TO MURDER

I choose to write my blog of this week on one of the plays that ICC was showing. The play was called a party to murder. I really don’t like a play that much but this was one of the best plays that I have seen in awhile. I had to see the play for my theater class. It was recommended for me to go see. I am glad I had the chance to see the play. I loved how the actors played there characters. I think that they all did a great job. I loved the props that they had. I also loved their costumes. The music was a great part also. The sound effects were also awesome. The play somewhat reminded me of a book that I read in high school called the Ten little Indians. I like the play also because it was a mystery play and I love mystery TV shows and books. I loved how the stage looked the crew who had designed the stage did a super job. I thought the play was somewhat hilarious. To be honest I thought the play wasn’t going to be all that great because of the name of the play but it is true that you cannot judge a book by its cover. I liked how at the end of the play they had bowed down and did their little dances it made me laugh it was a great way to end the play. I am so happy that I went to see the play. I will try my best to see any other play that ICC is going to put on. GOOD JOB GUYS!!!!!!!!!

One of my blogger case studies

When I writing a paper I really have a hard time grabbing my audience attention. I don’t know how to start my paper off. For my lit snap I used one of the thing s that we learned in class and that lesson really did help me with. I used dialogue to start off my lit snap paper. I think that I did a great job on that one. I really like using dialogue on my paper because it’s a fun thing t do also it gives the audience a picture of what had happen at that time. It also brings old memories for the writer also. On my next paper I will try to start my paper with one of the other techniques that we had learned in class. If the dialogue works then maybe the other ones will work for me also. I believe that they will work for me. How I was starting my papers off before weren’t that great to me. I thought that they didn’t catch anyone attention and I hated to write papers because of that reason. I also would start my paper off the same way for all of my papers. When I was in high school some of my teachers tired to help on this note but I wasn’t still getting it until now which is great. English 105 is really helping me on the way I write my papers. I believe that I am doing better but can improve a little bit more. Hopefully the other techniques will work for me.

BYE BYE WOODY HIGH

I decided to write my blog on the closing of Woodruff. I feel two ways about closing woodruff for good. I feel like they shouldn’t close woodruff down. I also feel like it does bother me if woodruff is closing. I feel like they shouldn’t close woodruff because yea I did graduated from there. I also made some good friends there. I had a lot of good times there. We had a lot of fun there. When they close it down it’s like that part of me will be gone. Like I won’t be able to go see any of my old teachers or underclass friends when I wanted to next year. The other side of me really doesn’t care if they do close woodruff down because if you look at it they are talking about changing the name of central. So to me it’s like both woodruff and central is going away. They are also trying to changing their school colors and mascot. I am really sad thought it’s like every time I graduate from a school they end up closing it for good. My first school was white middle school and now its woodruff. My sister and brother go to woodruff now. So now they have to start all over and make new friend and meet new teacher and other things wants the got contforable for them at woodruff. I believe it’s going to be hard for the entire woodruff student because they got to transition from their old to their new school. I just wish the best for all of woodruff and central students. Blog Week Number Three

I find myself having a hard time starting a paper. It’s like I know what I want to say but I don’t know to say it. Sometimes I don’t even what to say. If it’s a subject that I really isn’t up to write that when I have what they call a writer’s block. When I have a writer block I sometimes like to think of way I can start off my essay. I it’s very hard for me to come up with one so I’m usual asking people around me for their advice on what I should. I like that I can have someone for advice when I need it most. When I am not at school or doesn’t have anyone to take advice from I just sit down and take out a paper and write different ways to start my paper and what to say in my paper. I love to make outlines because they give me an order of how my paper is going to be. I like to put my introduction first the write under that what I am going to say in the introduction. Then next I like to put my first topic down and also write what I want to say in that paragraph. I continue that until I’m done with my topics. I do my conclusion the same way. When I don’t have the time or don’t really want to do an outline I sometimes free write. I love to free write because there isn’t any limit I can write about anything that is on my mind. I’m glad that in class we were taught ways to start our paper. It really helps me and I’m going to take what we learned and apply it to all my papers.

Thank You Mom

One writing experience that I can remember is when I was in the fifth grade, and we had to write a paper on who inspired us the most and why? I choose to write about my mother. I wrote about my mother because she is always there for me when I need her. I can talk to my mother about anything and knows that she won’t judge me or get at what I had to tell her. I love that me and my mother have that relationship because not everyone and their mother have that. I also choose my mother because she really tired her best to raise me and my brother and sister. I know it wasn’t easy for but she did her best and that’s all I can ask for. The things that I love about my mother are that she is loving, caring, easy to talk to and just fun to be around. Me and my mother do have are differences sometimes but I only thing that makes us stronger. When I was little my sister and my mother and I would do a lot of stuff together. We would go to the movies together. We would also go shopping. We would just have random girl’s days out which I used to love. We really don’t get a chance to do that anymore because my mother and I are workaholics and are always at work, but I would for us to have one again. I love my mother and always will and I am glad that I have a mother like that in my life.

Week two study case in school writing vs. out of school writing

When I write in school I use a formal type of writing. I use that type of writing because that is what professors would want me to use. I also use that type or writing because not everyone can read my work if I wrote how I do when I not in school. When I am not at school I usually write in what my professors would call slang. I write slag when I am not in school because it’s quicker and take less time. Also I don’t really feel like writing paragraphs to my friends. Another reason why I write in slang is because I can only text 160 letters in one text on my phone which sucks but hey I have to deal with it lol. Some of my slang words would consists of words like lol which means laughing out loud and nm which mean never mind. Some of my other slang words are plz which means please and so on there’s too many to name. If I could write in slang at school I probably would. Just because it’s easier and quicker and enjoyable to do. I also like to write in slang because it gives me a chance to be creative for a change. Sometime formal writing can be so boring and be so tiring. Sometimes I get missed up at where I am at and I sometimes time writes slang in my essays for school. I guess I just get caught up in the moment. It is really hard for me sometime to not want to write slang in my school work just because it’s a faster way and I can be do with my work and relax. But this year I am going to try my best not to put that slang in my school work. Hopefully I won’t do it!

Letter of introduction

Dear Ms. Stephanie,
My name is Raquel S Eckwood. I just graduated from Woodruff High School. I am the oldest of 3. I have a job at Papa Murphy’s Take N Bake Pizza. I have been working there for about almost two years. I am the first out of my family to go to college. Knowing that I am the first to go to college makes me feel real good inside. It gives me a chance to prove to my family and myself that all things are possible. I also want to show my sister and brother a great example on how they should be in life. I am majoring in the nursing field. This is my first year at ICC. One of my personal goal is trying to achieve all “A’s” and ‘B’s” in all my courses. Another personal goal is to try my hardest to be on time and to come to class everyday and to push myself to the fullest to do my best that day. My favorite subject would have to be science. My favorite color is blue. My favorite food would have to be pizza. Even though that’s funny since I work at a pizza restaurant. I am like a typical girl I love to shop, listen to music and hang out with friends. I also love to talk on the one and text a lot. I am enjoying English 105 and eager to find out what else there is for me to enjoy.
